5 Easy Pork Recipes




Pork is very popular across the US, but often it is served simply with a few herbs and good season-ing.

If you want to try something a little different with your meat, take a look at these quick and easy pork chop recipes that will liven up the dinner table.

Molasses and Coffee Pork Chops >

This sweet and smoky dish hits all of the right notes and we think it will make a great date night dish.



Ingredients

  • 1 cup of strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 6 ounces of molasses
  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 6 sprigs of fresh thyme
  • 4 6 to 8-ounce pork chops

Method

  1. Combine the coffee, molasses, vinegar, mustard, garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, the ginger, thyme and pork chops in a 1-gallon zip-top bag; seal and shake to combine. Mari-nate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Preheat a grill to medium-high. Remove the pork from the bag. Pour the marinade into a saucepan; boil gently over medium-high heat, stirring, until reduced to 1/2 cup, 12 to 15 minutes. Remove the thyme stems.
  3. Grill the pork chops for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 145. Let rest for 5 minutes; serve with the glaze.

Chinese Style Pork Chops >

Step away from the take-out menu and head for your oven to make a hearty portion of Chinese pork chops.



Ingredients

  • 4 large pork chops
  • 1 tablespoon of Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of garlic infused olive oil (or you can use standard olive oil and 1 garlic clove, minced)

Method

  1. Arrange the pork chops in a single layer in a non-metallic baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle on the five-spice powder, then drizzle over the soy sauce and garlic oil.
  3. Using clean hands, rub the mixture into the meat.
  4. Cover the dish with a plastic wrap and chill for 2 hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 325°C/160°F.
  6. Uncover the dish and bake for 30-40 minutes or until the meat is cooked through and tender.
  7. Serve immediately with a green leafy vegetable or broccoli and plain boiled or steamed rice.

Cinnamon and Apple Pork Chops >

Pork and apple are a classic combination, and what could be better than a nice pork chop and veg-gies for a perfect Saturday night dinner?



Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon of dried, rubbed sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 (4-ounce) boneless center-cut loin pork chops (about 1/2 inch thick)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable oil
  • Cooking spray
  • 1 teaspoon of butter
  • 4 cups (1/2-inch) slices of peeled Granny Smith apples (about 4 medium)
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Method

  1. Combine the first 3 ingredients, and sprinkle over the pork.
  2. Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat. Add pork; cook 3 minutes on each side or until done.
  3. Remove the pork from pan. Cover and keep warm.
  4. Melt the butter in the pan over medium heat.
  5. Add the apples and remaining ingredients, and cook for 5 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently.
  6. Serve the apples with the pork.

Tuscan Pork Chops >

This Italian classic will have the whole family asking for seconds and it is very easy to cook.




Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon of seasoned pepper
  • 4 (1-inch-thick) boneless pork chops
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 3 to 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup of balsamic vinegar
  • 1/3 cup of chicken broth
  • 3 plum tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • 2 tablespoons of capers
  • Fresh parsley sprigs to garnish

Method

  1. Combine the first 3 ingredients in a shallow dish; dredge the pork chops in flour mixture.
  2. Cook the pork chops in hot oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove the chops from skillet.
  3. Add the garlic to skillet and sauté 1 minute. Add the vinegar and broth, stirring to loosen particles from bottom of skillet; stir in the tomatoes and capers.
  4. Return pork chops to the skillet; bring the sauce to a boil.
  5. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 4 to 5 minutes or until the pork is done.
  6. Serve the pork chops with the tomato mixture. Garnish if de-sired.

Cuban Pork Chops with Mojo >

This Cuban pork chop recipe is a truly exciting dish that is perfect for dinner parties or a special weekend dinner for you and your partner. There are a lot of ingredients in this dish, but most are cupboard staples.

Ingredients

  • 1cup plus 1/4 cup of orange juice, divided
  • 1/2 cup plus 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice, divided
  • 1/4 cup of vinegar
  • 4 (1-inch-thick) bone-in pork chops
  • 1 tablespoon of black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon of dried oregano
  • 3 tablespoons of canola oil
  • 1/4 cup of chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of white wine
  • 1 cup watercress for garnish

Method

  1. In a gallon-sized re-sealable plastic bag, combine 1 cup of orange juice, 1/2 cup of lime juice and the vinegar. Add the pork and let it sit and marinate for about 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine all of the dried spices. Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel and rub with the dry spice mixture.
  3. Heat the oil in a large sauté pan over high heat. Place the pork chops in the pan and sear on 1 side until brown.
  4. Flip over and turn the heat down to medium-low. Add the onion and sauté for 2 minutes. Then add the garlic and continue to cook until the garlic begins to brown.
  5. Pour in the remaining 1/4 cup orange juice, 1/4 cup lime juice and white wine.
  6. Simmer until the liquid is slightly reduced and begins to thicken. The chops should be cooked through.
  7. Remove the chops from pan and put on a warm plate. Continue to reduce juices in the pan by half. Pour over the chops and serve immediately.
  8. Garnish with watercress, tomatoes and avocado.
